The $787 Billion stimulus bill has netted 17,000 solar jobs from the "green" administration.  To say that is deplorable is a gross understatement.  We have a once in a lifetime opportunity to reach the goal of bringing solar energy to the forefront of meeting our country's energy demands.  With help from the current economic stimulus package we can do what was only dreamed of before, bring clean distributed energy to the homes of millions of Americans.  But we need to act now.  To this end the goal of this website is bringing citizens together to help draft legislation to provide government assistance in the manufacture, distribution and installation of solar panels on residential rooftops all across America.  We want this legislation to be the combined effort of citizens and their representatives in government.

US SOLAR POWER

The type of legislation desired is significantly different than that provided previously for solar energy. Rather than providing rebates or other benefits, this legislation would provide funding to manufacture and install millions of solar panels. It is the economy of scale provided by this level of production that will make solar energy a viable alternative to current sources.

Solar power can be an inexpensive alternative (after all the energy is free) if it is done on a large scale. For example flat screen computer monitors were just as pricey as solar panels when they first came out but now since they are made in such great quantity are only 1/10 the price they once were. Solar collection devices can be just as inexpensive if we make enough of them.

We need help getting legislation that will provide the financing to get such large-scale production underway. The site will show many of the advantages to going solar in this particular manner. I hope we can rely on your help.
